Critical Path was initially engaged by Omniyat to act as the Independent Planning Representative. In this capacity, their primary responsibility was to meticulously review and assess the contractor's scheduled programmes. They were tasked with ensuring that all project milestones and timelines were in alignment with Omniyat's objectives. To ensure transparency and to keep all stakeholders informed, Critical Path provided regular progress reports that detailed the advancements and any potential setbacks in the project.

As the assignment progressed, Critical Path's role evolved to provide specialised expert planning support, especially when there were extensions of time claims made by the main contractor. This involved a thorough assessment of the claims, evaluating their merit, and determining the impact on the project's timeline and costs. Beyond this, Critical Path's expertise was sought for a holistic approach to project management.

This included overseeing aspects like time management, ensuring that tasks were completed within set timelines; risk management, identifying potential challenges and devising strategies to mitigate them; procurement support, ensuring that all resources were acquired in a timely and cost-effective manner; change management, implementing strategies to accommodate any project alterations; and consistent reporting to maintain transparency and keep all stakeholders in the loop.
